The husband and wife team, Lee and Sue, will exhibit a collection of metalwork and jewelry.

Lee & Sue's artisan studio, Itchy Hands Works, produces metalwork ranging from jewelry to architectural installations. Together, this talented duo work a multitude of metals ranging from gold, silver, copper to stainless steel to make creative as well as commercial metalwork.

Sue produces one-off jewelery and was mostly trained on the job working for a few local jewelry manufacturers. Lee, on the other hand, had his training as a silversmith in the US and later traveled for a year as a blacksmith journeyman.

The aim of the show 'RETURN TO PRECIOUSNESS' is exactly that - to return to the concept of preciousness in "art". In the distant past the term "a work of art" invoked impressions of perfection, preciousness and permanence. An artist of old laboured for months or years to bring to fruition his inspiration. The perfection of the work is valued alongside its vision. The viewer marvels at the miraculous mastery of material and concept. Through time, however, this aspect of art has been lost due to commercialism and its resultant branding of the artist. Now the artist is more important than the work.

For this exhibition, Sue will focus on the material she works with: the texture, colours and inherent value of the metal and precious stones. The goal is the "apt" combination of the visual and tactile elements. Lee will use the human figure as the starting point for exploring the visual and tactile qualities of various metals.
