Continuing in his tradition of celebrating the intrinsic beauty of nature, Fong Kim Sing's Lotus in Bloom follows on from his successful series Di Antara Langit dan Bumi (2005) depicting an idealized imagery of serenity and views of coastal planes in different settings of the day.
This new collection of works sees an homage to the lotus flower. Rich in symbolism and beauty, the lotus connotes all that is good in society. As far back as ancient times the representation of the lotus symbolizes spiritual unfolding, purity, fertility, wealth and abundance ,knowledge, creation and rebirth. Fong Kim Sing translates these ideas to create a wonderfully romantic imagery of the flower.

Using delicates and fluid strokes, rendered using gentle sweeps of thick brushes, the works alludes a softness that is reflective of the characteristics and nature of the lotus. Opaque tones of sweet misty blues, emerald greens and dusty oranges and lavenders dominate the canvas, to great sensuous and whimsical effect. Butterflies too appear in and around the lotus, in fashionable stripes and polka dots to accentuate a fairy tale like evocation of the natural environment.
Having held several solos and participated in numerous exhibitions around the region, Fong Kim Sing continues to draw inspiration from nature. Charming and evocative, these new works capture the imagination in sweet and harmonious candor.
