NN Gallery is proud to present a first solo exhibition by up and coming Malaysian artist Mohd. Fauzi Sedon entitled “Statement Series-True Colours”on 15th February 2004. Mohd Fauzi is a printmaker, a painter and an installation artist.
A graduate from ITM, Shah Alam with a Masters in Fine Arts from the University of Central England, Birmingham, this 32 year old artist is currently an art lecturer at University Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Tanjong Malim, Perak.
Mohd. Fauzi Sedon presents a collection of work using silkscreen and printwork on canvas, cardboard and installation art and mixed media work transforming the gallery into an interactive space of colour coding.
Do we see things in colour or black and white? and if so, which and why? are we governed by the emotional responses attained by certain colours? The question posed by the artist seeks to find the emotional response from society from the experiences and the things we see around us everyday. Are our emotions our guide to our responses in our daily choices?

The consumer culture today is a complex system of captions, numbers and images with discerning use of specific gender equated colours to heighten consumers needs. Products are made attractive to give perception to our subconscious that we need it and which in turn validates our perception of a better life and higher aesthetic sophistication.
“Colours that are set in text, colour, lines, shapes and forms act as a true catalyst for communication and an interactiveness for our behavioral and emotional make-up.” Mohd.Fauzi Sedon
In this exhibition “Statement Series - True Colours” Mohd. Fauzi Sedon takes a deep analysis of self and the way colours projected in our consumer culture interact with our lives. Colours as means of connectivity, colours that allude to well being and the role of colours in our reality and the way it enables us to manipulate and evoke such emotional responses ; to shape our aspiration and adjust the makeup of our personality.
