Fong Kim Sing, born in 1949 in Kedah,
believes strongly in the preservation of our environment. His art
celebrates the untouched beauty of nature during dawn and revisits
the feeling of serenity, privacy and mysticism. His style of
painting bounds between lyrical abstraction and dissolution of
form. He illustrates realistic images of fishing boats, waterjars
and juxtaposes with heavy gestural brushstrokes and the bleeding
of colours to propose a different aesthetic tradition of landscape
art.
This is Fong Kim Sing's first
solo exhibition in Malaysia. He has previously been included in
various group exhibitions abroad (Titan II, Bangkok and Asian
Watercolour Exhibition, Hong Kong.)

The exhibition
consists entirely of new works. The title, Misty Morning
originates from his daily working experiences as an artist. He
paints early in the morning in order to capture the diverse moods
of daybreak by the sea of Kuala Kedah. The works show a
preoccupation with colour, texture and form. They are romantic, in
the sense that they release a feeling of freedom, expanse and
response. In turn, these works generate a kind of energy that
places the viewer in an invigorating and refreshing state of mind.
To re-enforce this mood and experience the gallery together with
the artist's own collection of miniature fishing boats will create
what is perhaps best described as a conceptualistic installation.
