A solo exhibition by Fong Kim Sing

NN Gallery presents a solo exhibition by Kedah born artist Fong Kim Sing entitled "Misty Fields" from 16th June till 10th July 1999. This exhibition showcases 60 recent works on paper and mixed media works on canvas.

Fong Kim Sing returns to stage his second solo exhibition at NN Gallery. He uses hand made paper and found objects to create colourful yet serene images of coastal and landscapes, images called from his travels on Malaysia's North-South Highway.

Different materials such as cardboard, tracing paper and other found materials create rich, textural qualities to best depict expansive fields. He uses the mist at different times of the day to portray a sense of mythical awe whilst evoking natural beauty.

Fong Kim Sing has taken part in various solo and group exhibitions around the region. A self taught artist, Fong Kim Sing works in various mediums such as oil, watercolour, acrylic as well as sculpture.

This exhibition marks a new departure from his series "Misty Morning" where he depicted misty scenes of coastal life and boats. This collection of works continues in his tradition of expressing great spatial qualities found in nature expressing a sense of peace, greatness and places of contemplation.
