NN Gallery proudly presents a group exhibition by the lecturers of FSSR UiTM Malacca from 25th October till 8th November 2008.

The exhibition curated by Jurors Prize winner at the last Young Contemporaries Competition, Mohd Fazli Othman, will include paintings in oils and watercolours, photography, sculpture in wood and metal, mixed media works and digital work.
“Belek- belek “ is a Malay term that is used to look at things with greater and closer detail. This collective exhibition looks into their role as art educators as well as their inherent artistic call for the need to expand the boundaries of creativity. As explained by sculptor Rosli Zakaria, “As lecturers we need to teach our students to look beyond what is mundane, to be able to look at an object and take it out of the ordinary into to the extraordinary. Moreover to have an open mind, to analyse and evaluate, to document and critique before we embark on creating something beyond the ordinary”.
This exhibition presents an academic’s point of view of creative expression and highlights the mediums taught in the Arts faculty of UiTM Malacca. The range of works address issues of contemporary artistic values - re-looking at both abstraction and figurative paintings , the aesthetics and functionality of objects , the weight and validity of new digital mediums as tools for expression.
This exhibition will be officiated by YBhg Puan Fatimah Sulaiman, esteemed art collector and Patron of the Arts.
