1939 Born in Johor Bharu, Johor, Malaysia
Studied art from his father, Mr. O. Don Peris, who was the Royal Artist of Johor in the 1920s
Self taught photographer
1970s Was a photojournalist with the New Straits Times for twenty four years
1991-1994 Photo Editor of the New Straits Times until retirement
Experience
1984-1986 Photographic Co-coordinator and Director of the Confederation of Asean Journalists
1986-1991 Co-Chairman of the yearly National
Productivity Photographic Contest, National and Asean Level
1986-1998 Ran a weekly photo column for the New Sunday Times special section – Sundate.
1987-1989 Ran a monthly photographic outing programme The New Straits Times (NST)/ Kodak outing
1988-1990 Was the photographic consultant and photo co-coordinator for the Trans Borneo Expeditions
Conducted photojournalism courses for Press, Government and Comemrcial Bodies. Programmes organized by the Malaysian Press Institute and Asian Institute for Develoment Communication (AIDCOM)
