Wang Chuan
This marks Chinese artist, Wang Chuan's, debut show in Malaysia.
Mr. Wang Chuan, a Han National, was born in 1947 in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province of China. Being a professional writer and artist, as well as the member of Chinese Writers' Association and Chinese Artists’ Association, he also chairs the Vice Chairman of Zhenjiang Federation of Literature & Art Union, the Chairman of Zhenjiang Writers’ Association and the member of the Consultative Expert Group of Zhenjiang People’s Government. He also acts as Trustee of the Writers’ Association of Jiangsu Province and Jiangsu International Cultural Exchange Center. He was the Ex-Vice Chairman of Jiangsu Engravers’ Association.
Wang Chuan’s fine arts is focused on engravings, murals and stressed colour paintings, and he has created over 200 artistic works and published ten books and one album of paintings. His works have been exhibited many times both at home and abroad, and he has personally visited over ten countries and sponsored the exhibitions there. His works have received awards and has been published and are collected extensively. Some of his engravings, such as Mine City of Weigang, Banana Village in the Southern Part of China, Torch Festival, Time Brings Great Changes to the World and some of the murals such as The Tale of the White Snake and Labor Creates the World were selected in the China Art Exhibition in past years.
The total sum of all his murals combines cover a space of over 3,600 square meters, and among the group murals are Furong Mansion, Group Murals of The Temple of Ten Thousand Buddhas, The Tale of the White Snake, The Yangtze River at the Zhenjiang Portion, Nanxu City-A City with A Thousand Years History, A Gathering of Shining Star, The First Landscape Under the Heaven, The Rivers and Mountains Through Ages, Woodman •General• Emperor, Ge Hong, Labor Creates the World, The Modern World, The World of Art, The Group Murals of The Sunshine City, etc.

Wang Chuan has also created some environmental groups of statues, which are known as The Strong Wind of the Kingdom Wu, The Columns of the Cultural Relics and The Altar of the Universe. His colour paintings are exotically titled The Moon Over the Water Village, Guyuan Under the White Moon, Reading by Night in Huizhou, Ascent the Higher Mansion to Enjoy the Moon 《 The Snowing Night at the Southern Bank of the Yangtze River and The Pure Land have been purchased by foreign collectors.
Wang Chuan has participated in the Solo Exhibition of Chinese Colour in Bucharest and Deva , Romania, Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh, Malaysia and Singapore. He has participated in numerous international conferences and given lectures abroad. He has acted as co-sponsors for many joint exhibitions with his counterparts. He has published ten writings totalling three million words, including The White-haired Arrogant Man, A Monk and His World, The Marriage of Bewilderment, The Irrelevant Remarks on Shilu, The Dictionary of White and Black, the Gallery of the Five Colors, etc.
The novel, White-hair Arrogant Man was awarded the “People’s Literature Prize”. His mural of A Tale of White Snake was selected as “Excellent Work” in The First All-China Mural Exhibition. He was also awarded “The Highest Achievement Prize” by the Parliament of Hunedoara State, Romania. His name is listed in “Jiangsu Who’s Who”.
