Khairul Azmir Shoib
KHAIRUL AZMIR SHOIB'S STATEMENT
My work is based on my interest in children books, especially about fairy tales. Since I am always keen in creating creatures, it gives me an opportunity to imagine their costumes and accessories.
My childhood was filled with memories of Star Wars movies, Hans Christian Anderson/ The Brothers Grimm fairy tales, magical events from the Al-Quran and paranormal events that happened in my family (mostly about my ancestors who practiced witch craft).
This art form reflects on Carl Gustar Jung’s research on collective unconscious and archetypes which is present in both masculine and feminine, positive and negative, light the dark sides.
