Syed Zainal Rashid
Syed Zainal Rashid started photography at a very young age when presented with a box camera by an encouraging father.
The interest was brought to a more academic and artistic level during his studies in the United Kingdom at the Camberwell School of Art, London College of Printing. In the 80;s he took his photography to another level and involved himself in working with other photographers and since then have participated in several exhibitions.
What fascinates him in photography is the play of light forms on a medium creating evocative moods and textures.
“ You must be passionate about everything that you do and to me Photography is my Passion. I get involved with my subject be they a beautiful sunset a lone tree by the river, an arched window or the energetic grace of a performing artiste.”
His joint exhibitions include Images of Kuala Lumpur, Images of Kuala Lumpur 2, Images of Kuala Selangor Images of Mak Yong, Country Landscapes of Selangor,
Pertemuan Wajah Kuala Lumpur, Common Grounds, Peace and Tranquility, The 8 and several others.
